I browse real estate all the time…it’s an obsession of mine. Over the past few days, I’ve been really enjoying browsing homes I would ideally want if I had a family (not that I’m planning on starting a family for a very long time). In Toronto, my favourite family homes in my favourite family neighborhoods are usually between 1 and 2 million, so this is more on the pricey end. This particular home I found in the Eglington-Avenue Road neighborhood, which is one of my favourite family neighborhoods in all of Toronto….it’s not too neighborhood-y, you can walk to so many great restaurants and stores and have great access to transit, there’s some great schools around, and the attitude is both family and pet friendly:) This home recently went up for sale in that area, and I really love this listing!! It’s 1.6 mill, 3+1 bedroom, 4 bathroom.
What I love: This house is built around letting as much light in as possible. I love light….I need it in my home. I can picture filling this house to the brim with flowers and house plants. I also love that it’s super modern without being cold or unfriendly. And I love the little backyard that is just perfect to let dogs use the washroom and explore and maybe have a little playground for kids. (But this house is also within walking distance of tons of great parks and a rec center that all the local kids sports teams play at).
Things I don’t love: I do like a little bit less modern looking, just because I love older styles of architecture, and I would prefer a bigger backyard if I could have one (although in Toronto, this size backyard is more than generous). I HATE that the stairs are open at the back…..around small children and dogs, it just makes me tense up so much. And that’s not an incredibly easy fix either.
